Dreaming About the Celestial Mountain
Agnes Conway, 2011
Located in Marlay Park, Rathfarnham
Conway came across reference to the Celestial Mountain in connection with Mongolia. Its elusiveness captured her imagination and inspired this work. The colossal half face, made in concrete, is buried in, or perhaps emerges from, the earth. The mound on which it was intended to be located in the Park was formed by spoil from the construction of the M50.
