Expressions of Interest for Artists to Facilitate Creative Engagement Opportunities

We are inviting expressions of interest from artists to facilitate sculpture-based, creative engagement projects with communities living close to the new Sculpture Dublin commissions in Ballyfermot, Finglas, Raheny, Terenure, Smithfield Square Lower and at City Hall. 

Through its public engagement programme, Sculpture Dublin aims to raise awareness of sculpture in the city, and the new commissions, by facilitating conversations about sculpture and creating opportunities to make art.

We are building local partnerships and we would like to invite artists to facilitate workshop projects with schools and community groups in each area. We are looking for artists to develop and deliver six, two-hour workshops for each project. The fee proposed for each project for this role is €1,800 (including workshop facilitation, preparation time, materials, expenses, tax, etc.)

REQUIRED

  • The candidate needs to be an artist or creative professional with a strong knowledge of the history, theory and practice of sculpture.
  • The candidate needs to have experience of facilitating creative workshops.
  • The candidate needs to have experience of working with community groups and with children.
  • The candidate needs to be Garda vetted.

Additional to the requirements for the work set out above, specialist knowledge relating to one or a number of the individual commissions is desirable.

DESIRABLE

  • O’Connell Plinth commission:
    Knowledge of/ interest in Art/History/Architecture.
  • Smithfield Square Lower commission:
    Knowledge of/ interest in 3D Animation/Design/ Mathematics/IT/ /Architecture.
  • Ballyfermot People’s Park commission:
    Knowledge of/ interest in Music Production/Film-making.
  • St. Anne’s Park commission
    Knowledge of/ interest in Land Art/Ecology/Biodiversity.
  • Kildonan Park commission
    Knowledge of/ interest in Gardening/Horticulture and/or Sport.
  • Bushy Park commission
    Knowledge of/ interest in Trees/Gardening/Horticulture.

SELECTION CRITERIA

  • Proven experience of facilitating creative workshops.
  • Proven experience of working with community groups and children.
  • Relevance of practice and skills to the commission. 

SELECTION PROCESS

This is an open call for artists and creative professionals with practice in workshop delivery and community engagement. The closing dates for Expressions of Interest is 5pm on 15 March 2021. 

All submissions will be checked to ensure completeness before progressing for review by the Selection Panel. 

Please make sure you include (a.) a short statement on how you meet the requirements of the role and (b.) a CV.

The Selection Panel will then evaluate submissions against the Selection Criteria and make a decision on the suitable candidates for these roles.
