Description: Kilmainham Gaol Museum holds a fascinating collection of sculptures of significant figures from Irish history. These include busts of Edward Daly and Peadar Kearney by James Power, a 19th century bust Parnell by Mary Grant, Helen Hooker O’Malley’s bust of her husband Ernie, as well as the maquette for Clodagh Emoe’s statue of Anne Devlin which was erected in Rathfarnham in 2003. Many of these works are on display for the first time in many years in a special exhibition entitled ‘Kilmainham Unlocked’. To mark International Sculpture Day, curator Brian Crowley will lead a special tour of this exhibition in which he will outline the fascinating history of the Gaol’s sculpture collection.
