Sculpture Dublin Tour on Culture Night

Dublin’s Sculptural Landscape: Walking Tour

Culture Night 2021 – Friday 17 September

Join art historian, Antony Suttle on Culture Night for a guided tour of Dublin’s sculptural landscape. From historical remnants of empire, to assertions of a modern national identity, to the abstract, the contemporary, the naughty nicknames and beyond! Treat the city as an open-air museum – what do these sculptures tell us about our past and about Dublin today?

Antony will introduce you to a wealth of art along the way, from nationalist and imperial commemorations to portraits of artists, from historical monuments to contemporary works; find out all about a range of sculptures including, Julian Opie’s animated LED work, Suzanne Walking in Leather Skirt; city centre landmarks: The Spire and The O’Connell Monument; Oisín Kelly’s Children of Lir; statues of Irish heroes: Edmund Burke, Henry Grattan and Oliver Goldsmith; celebrity portraits of James Joyce, Phil Lynott and Luke Kelly and many more!

The tours are between Parnell Square North and South King Street and take approximately 45-minutes. Booking is required via Eventbrite (limited places – up to 15 participants per tour).
