Following a period of consultation and creative engagement with local people, Breda has designed a sculpture that is a joyful celebration of the power and resilience of community. A circle of dancing figures, arms enfolded in a gesture of togetherness speaks of the sense of solidarity and strength that being a member of a community can provide. Above their heads, a flock of birds – inspired by the tradition of pigeon fancying that endures in the area – rise upwards, while the space at the centre of the sculpture invites people to gather and to make this place their own.

Breda Marron is an award-winning sculptor, based in Drogheda. Her most recent sculpture commission, ‘Heart Space’ was created for Dundalk town centre, as part of the EU funded, Town Rejuvenation Project. Other public commissions include Slieve Gullion Forest Park, Co Down, Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Drogheda and a series of sculpture commissions for schools.
