About the Commissions
Sculpture Dublin is commissioning six sculptures for the city – a permanent sculpture in each of the Dublin City Council Administrative Areas and a temporary sculpture commissioned for the O’Connell Plinth outside City Hall.
Five of the six commissions are open competitions and that invited artists to propose ideas in response to the specific context of the selected site.
Two of the commissions are ‘participative’ and will require local involvement in the creation of the work.
For the site overlooking North Bull Island in St Anne’s Park, a land art commission is planned. It is an invited competition given the specialist nature of the art form.
